According to their website The Blues Bar in Harrogate is a “Rollicking night-time Blues Music Hangout and relaxed daytime café and Bar with a funky decor” [Editor’s note] Having been there personally many times, I can confirm this!
Small Café style venue in Harrogate Town Centre, literally a few seconds walk from the world famous Betty’s Tea Room & Café, with a small stage, probably fewer than 30 seats, but with a fantastic and intimate atmosphere.
Check for occasional variations, but Jam Night every Monday, Acoustic Sessions on a Tuesday, the fabulous Maurice Grumbleweed singing the Blues every Wednesday, and Guest Bands / Artistes on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and double or occasionally treble up Bands all day on Sunday.
The Grumbleweeds were an award winning Comedy Musical Band throughout the 1980s with their own long-running Shows on Radio and TV. Maurice, was the youngest of this Leeds based band, and his Comic talent and brilliant Vocal and Musical skills have not diminished over the years. He can be seen every Wednesday Night at The Blues Bar in Harrogate from 9pm, but you would be well advised to get there early, as seating is limited. The Blues Bar is without doubt the best and most intimate place to enjoy Maurice’s Show, as it feels like he is singing in your front room!
Such is the demand for his entertaining genius that he occasionally works on some of Europe’s finest Cruise Ships, but very capable replacements are always available to stand in. Call ahead if you specifically want to see Maurice’s Show.
