Swillington is a Village situated approximately 5 miles East of Leeds City Centre. Historically it was a Coal Mining Community until the closure of Primrose Hill Pit in 1970. A Housing Estate now stands on what used to be the Colliery site. The Sports & Social Club may be variously referred to as it’s historic name of Swillington Miner’s Welfare Club or Swillington Miners Sports & Social Club but it still forms a central part of the Village Community.
There are a variety of different Events during the course of a typical month, including a performance by the Northern Swing Orchestra Big Band (first Sunday of the month at 3.30pm £7 admission), Bingo sessions twice a week, a Weekly Open Mic Jam Night (every Thursday from 7pm), a weekly Karaoke Night (hosted by Bruce & Carol), and two or three nights of Live Entertainment, as advertised herein and at the Clubhouse.
On Saturday 15th March there is a double bill featuring Snog (Kiss Tribute) and Twin Lizzy (Thin Lizzy Tribute) at a cost of £12 a ticket. Doors open at 7.30pm and Show starts at 8.30pm. Tickets are available at the Bar in the Cub, or via Skiddle.com as below. We put this link for information only, and we do not benefit in any way from ticket sales.
