Knaresborough is a popular and picturesque Market Town in North Yorkshire, situated on the A59 York to Harrogate main road. It is well known as being the home of Mother Shipton, some Mediaeval Castle ruins and an iconic Railway Viaduct and it’s reflection in the River Nidd which must be one of the most photographed views in the County! It is also famous for hosting England’s oldest Tourist Attraction, namely Mother Shipton’s Cave, former home of Ursula Sontheil, later to become known as Mother Shipton. She was apparently born during a violent thunderstorm in 1488 and became famous as a Soothsayer and Prophetess whose many predictions included the exact year of the outbreak of Bubonic Plague in London and the Great Fire of London, the following year.

Park Place Social Club in Knaresborough is just a minutes walk from the Bus Station and a brisk uphill 5 minute walk from Knaresborough Railway Station which is on the Leeds to York Railway Line. The Club has a good size Concert Room, reasonable priced drinks, and (normally) plenty of free parking in the Market Square, which is very close by.
