DESCRIPTION:The Glasshouse in Kirk Sandall was originally called the Kirk Sandall Hotel up until 1956/1957 when it was renamed The Glassmaker\, having been erected by Pilkington Glass\, of St. Helens\, who had a large manufacturing factory in Kirk Sandall. \nWhen it first opened in 1934 it was regarded as being years ahead of its time for example one of the original windows was 20 x 10 feet and contained 98 panes of glass\, with dogs representing various breeds having been cut into some panes. Inside there were glass panels\, squares and shapes of many sizes and colours\, some were quite rare and one door was of armour-cast toughened glass. The Mirrored walls in one of the smaller rooms magically turned it into a vast auditorium where three or four people would suddenly be multiplied into hundreds of reflected images! \nNow called The Glasshouse it is situated only a ten minute drive from Doncaster town centre. It not only takes pride in its great facilities and menu but also the welcome that you receive. It’s an ideal host for nearly all occasions with its multi purpose function room\, The Pollitzer Suite\, and Wi-Fi Internet capabilities. It’s a big Christmas mambo/salsa/Cuban music party with the UK’s premier mambo/salsa band playing live accompanied onstage by the north’s top mambo dance company\, plus DJs playing strictly vinyl salsa and Cuban sounds. Welcome to MAMBO NAVIDAD! \nOrchestra Mambo International are one of the leading mambo/salsa groups in the UK today. Since they started 3 years ago\, they’ve released 4 singles (3 on vinyl 45\, 1 digital)\, played Glastonbury Festival (2 nights\, GlastoLatino stage 2025)\, sold out famous venues in Manchester/Edinburgh/London/Leeds (including Brudenell\, Belgrave and Howard Assembly Room)\, had their original music played across the BBC by Gilles Peterson/Jamie Cullum/Jamz Supernova/Craig Charles/Huey Morgan/Cerys Matthews\, and appeared on a legendary “Live At Maida Vale” session on BBC 6 Music for the Cerys Matthews show (2024 Christmas Special). \nOn 1st December\, they will release a Christmas digital single titled “Mambo Navidad” on Loft Recordings\, originally written for and played on that Cerys Matthews/Maida Vale live Christmas special in December 2024. This show is the official single launch party\, as well as being the last show of 2025 by the band. They’ve got some special guest musicians on this show\, including London rising jazz trumpet star Olivia Cuttill\, plus Leeds big band/brass band legend Tom Sharp (Tom Sharp Jazz Orchestra/Loud Noises Brass Band). Also Leeds/London alt-jazz singer Romy Taylor (who is British born but grew up in Spain and loves salsa)\, will be joining the band’s Venezuelan lead singer Carlos “Pachanga” Pena onstage to sing “coro” (backing vocals). \nOnce again\, the band will be joined onstage for selected numbers by dancers from the north’s finest mambo/salsa dance group Sabroso Dance Company. If you saw them together at the sold out Leeds Jazz Festival 2025 show at Belgrave Music Hall last May\, you know it’s always fireworks when they link up. \nFinally\, keeping the Christmas party vibes going all night long are guest selectors El Caspete DJs (Diego and Eyan)\, who join DJ Lubi on the turntables for an ALL VINYL selection of great Latin music….mambo\, salsa\, son Cubano\, cha cha cha\, merengue\, songo\, Afro-Cuban jazz and Latin bugalu. DESCRIPTION:Shafton is a Village in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley\, just on the Southern side of the South and West Yorkshire boundary. It is on the main Pontefract to Barnsley Road\, about 5 miles to the East of Barnsley Town Centre. Despite it’s Coal Mining Heritage\, the Village is surrounded by beautiful Countryside\, making it a popular destination for Walking and Cycling. \nShafton Working Men’s Club is located on High Street in Shafton\, and a review from a Band who had appeared at the Club stated:“This is a really great Club with Top Notch Bar and Management plus a great Family atmosphere. You will have a great night here\, for sure.” It is a Member’s Club\, but prospective applicants are invited to apply direct to the Club for Membership\, which in 2025 stood at only £4.00 \nThere are currently two Live Music Shows a week (a small Cover Charge may apply to certain shows)\, Quiz Nights in the Lounge every Tuesday and Thursday\, and a Bingo Session every Wednesday from 8pm.
