SUMMARY:Aladdin - The Rock'n' Roll Panto at City Varieties\, Leeds LS1 6LW
DESCRIPTION:Established in 1865\, The Varieties is a living\, breathing homage to the music hall era. You can feel it\, touch it\, smell it. \nIf you stop\, take a breath and listen\, she’ll tell you the story of the stars who have performed on her stage\, from Houdini to Russell Crowe; the Prince who hid in her balcony to secretly court a music hall queen; the baby that was born during pantomime and gifted free admission for life; the schoolchildren who would fire pea-shooters at the striptease acts; the renditions of Down at the Old Bull and Bush to close BBC TV’s The Good Old Days; the funny man from Liverpool with his tickling stick; and the army of volunteers who have welcomed the people of Leeds through her front doors for over 155 years. \nAudiences from far and wide still flock to see the brightest stars from comedy\, music\, variety and pantomime perform on her stage\, indeed Mr Dara O’Briain said she is: “Steeped in history… still regarded as the best venue for stand-up Comedy in the nation.” \nPantomime at The City Varieties: Aladdin – The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto\nPerformances today at 1pm and 6pm\nBuilding on the roaring success of past hits including Jack and the Beanstalk\, Red Riding Hood\, and Dick Whittington\, Leeds’ ‘Grade A panto’ (Yorkshire Times) is back to light up the festive season at the world-famous City Varieties Music Hall. \nThis isn’t your average Christmas pantomime – this is a Rock ‘n’ Roll Pantomime! Aladdin: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto by Peter Rowe. \nFrom the Theatre’s Web Page: “Imagine the perfect blend of laugh-out-loud audience participation\, hilariously cheesy jokes\, and a high-energy jukebox bursting with iconic rock anthems and chart-smashing hits. And the best part? Every note is performed live on stage by a showstopping cast of multi-talented actor-musicians. It’s a festive extravaganza like no other!” \nFor further information\, ticket prices and bookings\, please go to: https://leedsheritagetheatres.com\n

SUMMARY:Jam Night at The Blues Bar\, Harrogate HG1 2TJ
DESCRIPTION:The Blues Bar in Harrogate is a “Rollicking night-time Blues Music Hangout and relaxed Daytime Café and Bar with a Funky Décor” according to their web site\, and it’s difficult to improve upon that exact description. \nIt’s a small Café style venue in Harrogate Town Centre\, literally a few seconds walk from the world famous Betty’s Tea Room & Café\, with a small stage\, probably fewer than 30 seats\, but with a fantastic intimate atmosphere\, and with an exceptional program of Live Entertainment every night of the week. \nCheck online for occasional variations\, (particularly over Christmas and New Year periods) but Martin Rose hosts a Jam Night every Monday and also the Acoustic Sessions every Tuesday\, the fabulous Maurice Grumbleweed presents his relaxed Blues Night every Wednesday\, with more than a touch of the humour that made him and his fellow Grumbleweeds into National Treasures\, and Guest Bands / Artistes on Thursday\, Friday\, Saturday and double or occasionally treble up Bands all day on Sunday. \n[Strongly recommended] \nMonday 22nd December is a Jam Night hosted by Martin Rose \n(from 9.30pm)
