DESCRIPTION:Otley Courthouse is a Arts and Resource Centre founded and run by and for the people of Otley in West Yorkshire. It’s home is the 19th Century Magistrates Court\, Police Station & Superintendent’s House which were transformed over an 8 year period before it opened its doors in its current form in 2004. It is a Community Hub where people can experience Live Events\, learn new skills\, connect with the local culture\, or maybe join as a Volunteer or Friend of the Courthouse\, meeting other people and improving their social connections. A lot of the heritage of the building is still visible: including the holes where prison bars used to be in the doorways\, the Visitor Gallery in the former Courtroom\, and the Heritage prison cell and corridor\, which still looks as it did during Victorian Times. \nIn addition to the main auditorium (the Courtroom)\, there are ten tenanted studios/rooms\, a Meeting Room and a Maker Space which function on a Membership basis and is also the home of The Wharfedale Men’s Shed. \nThe Courthouse hosts a variety of events throughout the year\, including Film screenings\, Live Music\, Theatre\, Comedy\, Art Exhibitions and Creative Workshops. There are also a variety of local creatives who run weekly classes and workshops from the centre. The Café is open 6 days a week (10am until 2pm)\, serving Teas\, Coffee and Snacks.
