There are many reasons why people might want to book an Artist – whether it’s a solo Singer, Duo, a Comedy Act or a Live Band. Generally speaking this would normally be for a special event such as a Wedding Reception, a Family Celebration or maybe a Works Event.

Think very carefully about booking an artist based on a personal recommendation, and as an absolute bare minimum you should see them performing first. It is possible that you might be able to save a few bob by booking direct, but the possible negative downside make it an incredibly risky business.

Firstly, many top Artists are under Management meaning that their Agent looks after all their bookings, so it’s unlikely you will save any money by booking them direct. Secondly what would you do if, just before the event the Act pulled out? If you use an Agent, you can be sure that they have been auditioned and have a diary full of satisfied bookings under their belts. Also if the worst happens and the act is unable to fulfill the booking, an Agent will ensure that you have a replacement act ready to step in.
